Preparing for changes to your insurance coverage

Patients will often ask us for guidance regarding dental insurance coverage because they are preparing for retirement or their employer will be changing insurance carriers in the next benefit year. Our dentists are in-network providers for Delta Dental. We can submit to any insurance company as long as your plan allows you to choose your provider. If your new coverage is out-of-network, benefit payments will be based on usual and customary fees and procedure category allowances determined by th...

Clean between teeth daily (preferably before bedtime) with floss or an interdental cleaner to remove plaque from the places where your toothbrush can’t reach. Flossing is essential to ...

Important to Know the Benefit Year on Your Dental Plan

Dental insurance policies can be quite confusing to say the least.  One detail that is often overlooked is a policy's "benefit year".  Many policies have a "benefit year" that is January 1st thru December 31st.  This means on January 1st a patient would "start over" with a full benefit amount (yearly maximum benefit amounts can vary greatly from policy to policy).  Other dental insurance policies, such as the Sioux Falls School District insurance policy for example, have a "benefit yea...
